Men’s Mental Health: Breaking the Silence This November

November marks Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, an essential time to address the unique challenges men face regarding their mental health.

While mental health struggles affect all genders, societal pressures often hold men back from seeking help. Expectations of masculinity can lead to silence and isolation, preventing men from openly discussing issues like anxiety, depression, and stress.

What “Tough” Really Costs Men’s Mental Health

This awareness month is a powerful opportunity to challenge these stigmas. It’s not about being “tough”, it’s about having the courage to prioritize well-being.

We believe in fostering environments where seeking support is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness. We encourage everyone in our network within your own organizations and with your partners to raise awareness. Together, we can normalise these conversations and ensure all men feel empowered to access the support they deserve.

A Month of Collective Action for Mental Health

October has been a month of meaningful collaboration and shared commitment to mental health. In recognition of World Mental Health Day 2025, Counselling Corner hosted an online awareness campaign to unite organizations and individuals under one message that mental health matters, and support begins with awareness. Campaign Highlights

This year’s campaign focussed on workplace mental well-being, encouraging organizations to take small but powerful steps toward creating safer and more supportive work environments. Many corporate partners and NGOs across Myanmar joined the campaign, sharing stories, reflections, and actions taken to support their teams’ mental health. Through shared participation, the message of ‘Mental Health is Everyone’s Responsibility’ reached millions of employees nationwide.

A Collective Effort

We are deeply grateful to our partners and participants who made this initiative possible. Your engagement shows that together, we can create a lasting impact and foster more compassionate, resilient workplaces. The success of this campaign is a reminder that awareness grows stronger when communities and organizations act together.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, Counselling Corner remains committed to supporting organizations through workplace programs, workshops, and counselling services. We invite our partners to continue collaborating with us not just during campaigns, but all year round to promote mental health as a core part of employee well-being.If you’d like to learn more about how we can support your organization’s mental health initiatives, please reach out to us at: info@counsellingcornermyanmar.com

Counselling Corner is now a member of International Association for Counselling

We are proud to announce that Counselling Corner is now a member of the International Association for Counselling (IAC), the world body for the counselling profession. Established in 1966, the IAC is an International Non-Governmental Organisation with United Nations consultative status. It exists to lead and connect the global counselling community to advance the mental health and well-being of all people.

A Note from Our Director, Edwin Briels:

“We are aiming to set up a professional counselling industry in Myanmar working together with all counsellors from Counselling Corner, Seit Mate Swe centres and other players interested in counselling. It’s very important to be in contact with other organisations worldwide and learn from their experiences in the past. We have been working closely with the Australian Counselling Association, The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and the US based National Board for Certified Counsellors, all with the aim to improve quality and set standards for counselling in Myanmar. Adding the membership with IAC is a next step to be able to cooperate and learn more from professionals worldwide.”

To overcome these challenges, allow us to introduce our special program called Play Date. This program is specially designed for children aged 5 to 15 years old. If you are interested and would like to participate, register here.
