As a proponent of positive change for all, Hsu Lei is dedicated to studying and expanding her knowledge in the fields of Psychology and Mental Health Counselling, with the aim of creating a better everyday life and making a positive impact on others. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from the University of London (UOL), awarded through the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). Following two years of professional experience in the retail industry in Myanmar, she furthered her expertise by completing Advanced Counselling Skills Trainings at Counselling Corner. Additionally, she participated in Group Counselling sessions as part of an experiential learning process.

In response to the crisis and challenges in Myanmar, which had created a gap between the demand for mental health and emotional support and the available services, she joined Nway Oo Healing Space as a volunteer counselor in 2021. In this role, she worked with clients to create a comfortable, safe, and confidential environment where they could express themselves freely, sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in active and empathetic listening, reflection, a non-judgmental stance, and unconditional positive regard, with a strong focus on person-centered therapy.

She has gained experience working with a diverse range of cases, including relationship problems, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD.

Through her therapeutic approach, she has successfully helped clients reduce their emotional crisis, foster greater self-acceptance, establish healthy boundaries, cultivate self-love, strengthen core values, and shift perspectives or patterns related to relationship issues. She has enabled clients to feel more comfortable and perform effectively in their daily activities.

She firmly believes in the importance of lifelong learning and ongoing personal and professional development to meet the unique needs of each client. As such, she is continuously advancing her knowledge in the fields of Counselling and Psychology with the aim of becoming a highly skilled and experienced mental health professional. She is also leading various workshops, webinars and seminars both online and in-person and teaching Counselling Skills Training at the Counselling Corner. Driven by a commitment to both self-paced learning and formal education, she plans to pursue more in the future to deepen her expertise and further her professional growth.

Her interest in Early Childhood Education and Development began during her high school years. She has always had a deep love for children, and teaching has been her passion from a young age. Furthermore, she has developed an interest in understanding adult behaviors and how they are influenced by childhood experiences. Recognizing the profound impact of childhood on the future of individuals and society, she is committed to personal growth, drawing from her own experiences.

One of her greatest aspirations is to help children experience fewer physical, emotional, and mental wounds, enabling them to grow into happy, well-adjusted adults who contribute positively to both their own well-being and the world around them.

Additionally, she is passionate about educating parents, caregivers, teachers, and anyone who works closely with children including prospective parents on how to nurture and raise children in a healthy, supportive manner. One of her guiding principles is, “Heal before having children, so your children don’t have to heal from having you as a parent.” She also believes that every individual, whether or not they have children, should take responsibility for their own inner work in order to become a better person over time.

Last but not least, she believes initiating change requires courage, especially when taking the first step. It is important to understand that you do not have to navigate this journey alone. She is here to support you with compassion, helping you make the changes necessary to lead a healthier, happier life. She is honored to meet you where you are and work together towards achieving wellness, health, and fulfillment. To create a more beautiful environment, community, and world, we must begin with ourselves and foster growth from within. By working closely, she can be able to create a meaningful experience to help you face and overcome challenges through processing, healing, and progress. She is proud of whoever takes the first step, and looks forward to supporting with open hearts along the way.
