Every year on 10 October World Mental Health Day is celebrated around the world to raise awareness for mental health. What are you planning for this year’s World Mental Health Day? In this newsletter some ideas, suggestions, and a contest for the best World Mental Health Day ideas for individuals and for companies.
About World Mental Health Day

Since 1992 this day is celebrated world-wide on 10 October at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (www.wfmh.global) with the aim to improve mental health education, awareness and advocacy against stigma.
Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being. Yet one in eight people globally are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others, and their livelihoods. Mental health conditions are also affecting an increasing number of adolescents and young people. In Myanmar, about one in four people are suffering from moderately-severe to severe depression and just as in other countries also the young generation under 25 years old is most affected.
How can we celebrate World Mental Health Day (Tue 10 Oct 2023)?
- Share experiences – it can really help for yourself and for others to honestly talk about feelings and emotions. So others know they are not alone.
- Reach out to loved ones – let people know that you think about them, send them a kind message, listen to them, give them a hug and ask how you can support
- Check-in with your own mental health. Take time to reflect, write a diary, do sports or meditation and do for example this simple self-assessment on depression – PHQ-9 Questionnaire
