The Heavy Cost of Doing Everything Alone
“No matter how tough things get… do you find yourself dreading the thought of asking others for help more than anything else?”
Many people praise extreme self-reliance, seeing it as a sign of true strength. But psychologically, hyper-independence is often not a strength at all, it can be a trauma response rooted in past hurt. Perhaps growing up, the people you should have been able to depend on let you down or pushed you away when you needed them most. Because of that, your subconscious quietly concluded: “I can’t rely on anyone else; I have to do everything myself.”
Constantly struggling through everything entirely on your own leads to deep mental and physical burnout in the long run. As humans, we are social creatures meant to connect and lean on one another. When you build high walls and shut everyone out, it brings a deep sense of isolation, which eventually leads to chronic anxiety and depression.

Recognising and integrating not just our bright side, but our dark side as well (Shadow Integration), is the best healing journey to truly loving yourself and growing into a more mature human being. Read this article in Myanmar.
8-Week Online Addiction Group Counselling
Struggling with addiction can feel lonely, but you do not have to navigate it by yourself. We are now opening registrations for our next 8-week online addiction group counselling programme, offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to work through the challenges of addiction alongside others who may understand similar experiences.
Group counselling can help reduce the isolation, shame, and self-blame that often accompany addiction. Hearing from others can remind you that you are not alone, while the group setting provides opportunities to build connection, encouragement, and accountability in a supportive environment.
Recovery is a personal journey, and change does not happen all at once. This programme offers a space to take that journey one step at a time, with guidance, understanding, and support. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction and would benefit from a supportive group setting, we warmly invite you to register.

Suicide Prevention: Reaching Out Can Save a Life
“Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is remind someone that they do not have to face their pain alone.”
September is Suicide Prevention Month, with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September. It is a time to create more open and compassionate conversations about suicide and emotional pain, and to remind one another that support is available.
Many people who are struggling may not openly say that they are thinking about suicide. Instead, they may withdraw from others, seem unusually hopeless, give away meaningful belongings, talk about feeling like a burden, or say that people would be better off without them.
These signs should never be ignored or dismissed. You do not need to have the perfect words, solve someone’s problems, or be a mental-health professional to make a difference. Often, simply noticing a change, asking with care, and listening without judgment can help someone feel seen and less alone.
If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, please reach out now. Contact someone you trust, a mental-health professional, or your local emergency service. You can also visit the Suicide Prevention Myanmar Facebook page to seek information and support related to suicide prevention.

Journalling as Self-Care
Journalling can be a simple yet meaningful way to care for your mental health. By putting your thoughts, feelings, and experiences into words, you can begin to clear some of the clutter in your mind and create space to reflect. Writing can help you express emotions, process difficult experiences, recognize patterns, and understand yourself with greater compassion.
There is no right or wrong way to journal. You might write freely about whatever is on your mind, reflect on a challenging experience, record moments of gratitude, or simply describe how you are feeling today. Journalling may be especially helpful when you are feeling overwhelmed or finding it difficult to talk about what you are experiencing. It can offer a private space to acknowledge your emotions and gently explore what you may need.
Reflective Journalling Session
Counselling Corner is planning a guided journalling session with counsellor Nilar Aung using our Moments of Insight Reflective Journal. This session will provide a calm and supportive opportunity to pause, reflect, and connect with your thoughts and feelings.
Together, we will begin by using our breath to build a sense of calm and stability. We will then look back over the emotions and thoughts we have experienced during the week and gently transform them into words through relaxed and free writing. There will be no pressure to share, but anyone who wishes to share their reflections will be welcome to do so. Finally, we will take time to look ahead and prepare ourselves for the week to come.
You are warmly invited to join us, take a quiet moment for yourself, and discover how journalling can become part of your mental-health self-care routine.
